Zezhou Tang汤赜州

Equity analyst in Shanghai, covering AI and consumer. Building Alphaholic on the side. Off the desk: music, photography, snowboarding, and anything else that sounds like fun.

The short version.

I’m an equity analyst at Runzhou Investment in Shanghai. I cover two things: the AI hardware chain — mostly semiconductor materials, equipment and electronics — and consumer, from drinks and snacks to collectible toys and outdoor brands. The rest of my time goes into research tooling. Most of an investment team’s day still runs through inboxes and spreadsheets, and a lot of it can be rebuilt around AI. I do that at the fund, and on my own with Alphaholic.

Getting here took the long way round. A year of equity research at Nomura’s asset management arm, a master’s at London Business School, and before that a scatter of things: product at Tencent, a stretch at an asset manager and a brokerage, private-market investing in London and Beijing. I studied engineering at BUPT, which has nothing to do with any of it.

Further back, I’m the kind of person who wants to try everything: code, markets, music, sport, painting, a bit of each. At university I ran the student union’s arts department: the year-end gala, the singing contest, anything that needed a stage. I still write songs on the guitar, shoot portraits, and spend my winters on a snowboard. I like making things, and I like a good argument about a company.

Music

Piano to grade 10 and voice to grade 9. Guitar came after university, for singing along and writing my own songs. Drums for a while, too.

Racket sports

Tennis, pickleball, table tennis, badminton, padel. If it has a racket, I’ll play.

Photography

Mostly portraits. It started as a hobby, and for a while I also shot for friends and clients. Landscapes when I travel.

    Alphaholic

A fund is a loop that turns information into judgment. I’m rebuilding that loop with AI.

Alphaholic is the workspace I wanted at my own desk: sources, companies, notes, files and AI help in one place, always with a way back to the original evidence. It’s built on language models, retrieval and agent-facing APIs, and it’s where my own research lives.
